Although we longer sell Alado Furlers from Brazil, as a courtesy for our past customers, we offer this free repair guide.

Of course, the best solution is to upgrade your Alado Drum to our New G3 Series 3DFurler drum. Our new drum is lightweight, Clamp On (No rigging removal) and no Bow Ties Offs needed.
Servicing the Alado Drum

Step 1. Loosen the two top bolts and lift up the foils. Secure with Vice-Grips on the stay.

Step 2 Remove the centralizing bushing. (2 halves).
Step 3 Disconnect the forestay and remove the drum. Caution: Secure with spare halyard first.

Step 3 Carefully remove the 3 bolts CCW, remove the 3 Delrin sleeves, then remove the aluminum shaft.

The Alado Drum has a knack for seizing up over time due to the fact that they use aluminum with a Delrin Sleeve. It gets corroded.
Water can act as a conductor of electricity depending on the minerals known as the measurement of siemens. Depending on where you sail, you may have higher than normal levels of minerals in your rain or water causing increased conductivity.
Rarely, this conductivity can result in galvanic reactions caused over time to the plastic and aluminum.
The symptoms that you may notice (especially after no use for extended periods) are that the drum is getting harder to turn.
