For $180 and a few hours of work, I avoided thousands in replacement costs.
As a new sailor, I was initially convinced to scrap the seized Alado furling system on my Cal 2-27. Before doing so, I contacted and spoke with Shane at 3DFurler.com, who quickly changed my mind. The foils were still sound, so he recommended 3D-printing a replacement drum instead of replacing the entire system.
Over several calls, Shane guided me through the measurements, forestay removal and installation process. The new drum fit perfectly, and the furler now operates smoothly — and I gained valuable rigging and safety knowledge along the way.

I installed it in less than an hour. Very few parts to foul up.

It is really impressive. We have had many sailors come by and check it out. There is a Morgan 42 Ketch here who plans on replacing his furler and seemed interested.
Shane was phenomenal. He returned all of my calls promptly and answered my emails within 12 hours. Even my wife, who does not impress easily, was very impressed.
